Kolkata’s largest music, movies and books
retail chain, hosted The Future of
Music—a ‘musical adda’. The panelists were eminent musicians Nondon Bagchi,
Jayashree Singh, Bickram Ghosh and a famous representative from the music
recording industry, Mahua Lahiri. The interesting ‘adda’ was moderated by Jimmy
Tangree, famous radio-personality.
It
was largely attended by youth as well as other eminent personalities and
general music lovers. At the time when we are all into deep thoughts that
whether the physical format is going to exist, all the panelists were very
positive that physical format will be there along with the digital format. Music
cannot exist only virtually. The excitement of holding a Vinyl or a Compact Disc, definitely
gives us a feel of possessiveness and educate us with every details of the
album.
A society cannot exist without music. Music is
the best way to express our emotions in all forms. Kolkata mourned with
shutting down of Music World but there is also a good news that several other
Music Stores are coming up. M3 is opening a store on Park Street & G55 has
re-opened under the banner of M3. We want to raise our voice against illegal
downloads and request all music lovers to support the industry and pay due
respect to our artists, composers, writers, musicians and everyone concerned in
creating a masterpiece, which entertains them.
We invite more such endeavors for creating
awareness.
